This page covers the most important aspects of Mining in Dragonflight,including talent builds and suggestions on how to make gold with the profession.

Mining allows you to mine ore veins found all across the Dragon Isles.The normal and rare ores mined in this fashion can then be further processedthrough Mining's specializations, or directly sold to players withEngineering, Jewelcrafting, or Blacksmithing.

Dragonflight introduces Crafting Specializations, which youare able to unlock once your profession skill hits 25. These serve as a professiontalent tree system fueled by Mining Knowledge, obtained from weekly quests,one-time treasures in the Dragon Isles, Draconic Treatises, and first-time crafts.

While you will eventually be able to unlock all talents, doing so will requirea long time as the sources of knowledge are very limited, especially once one-timetreasures and first-crafts are exhausted.

Devastation Evokers with their unique Dracthyr mobility abilities,Soar and 2% baseline Perception gain racial, are easily top contendersfor great miners.

The other main contender is a Highmountain Druid, who benefitsfrom quicker gathering, +5 skill, and no cast time when going into flight formin the old world.

Dragonflight introduces three new stats specific to gatheringprofessions: Perception, Deftness, and Finesse.

Mining can make great use of all three stats, but you might want to focuson specific stats for different playstyles. We go into detail with Mining statsand the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:

You can gather two base ore types:

Serevite Ore

Draconium Ore

With a third, Khaz'gorite Ore, being awarded rarely when mining from thetwo base ore types, especially Draconium Ore and any modified ore deposits.

The base types can be found affected by Windswept, Frigid,Decayed, Lush, Infurious and Titan-Touched modifiers,with Infurious notably being present in War Mode and near World PvPobjectives. We showcase images of ores affected by these modifiers in the levelingguide below.

Occasionally you will find Rock Walls marked on your mini-map by yourmineral tracking ability. These can be opened by Miners, and inside you can findspecial secrets and ore mines or herbs!

The most important source of Mining skill is your profession level, whichis increased by gathering different types of ores in the Dragon Isles.While leveling is generally straightforward, you should still take into accountthe racials of the character you are leveling on and the skill level at whichcertain types of ores stop giving skill, both of which are discussed in ourspecialized guide below:

Mining Specializations dictate what ores you are proficient at gathering,and can even let you mine while mounted! In fact, that feature is so strong thatwe would recommend you to invest 35 points into Mining Process tobegin with, before branching out to any of our suggested builds below.

Mining Specializations are divided into three disciplines, each with multiplesub-specializations within which can be unlocked as you put points into theirpre-requisite disciplines, akin to talent trees.

Mining Process is alwaysyour starting point in order to learn how to gather while mounted at MiningProcess 35. From there you can keep investing into the specialization or swapto Metallurgy or Mastering the Elements, as you should have unlockeda second tree with skill 50 by then.

All three sub-trees in this specialization are very good and worth investingin. The order can be argued about, but in the end you will want to maximize everythingin Mining Process as fast as possible for the best returns when mining!

Metallurgy focuses on theefficient gathering of Serevite Ore and Draconium Ore base oretype and refining them, as well as Khaz'gorite Ore to maximum Quality.

Any of the three ores can be refined for profit, and the exact build you wantto use depends on prices on your server: Serevite provides gems when refining,while Draconium gives Rousing Essences, instead. You can also temporarilyskip both and just maximize Metallurgy for maximum quality Khaz'gorite Oreas quickly as possible, instead!

Mastering The Elementsis the best tree for increasing your Rousing and Awakened Essence gains whilegathering. Its main benefit is the ability to use Overload Elemental Depositto gather a lot of materials quickly whenever it is up.

You also get bonus profession knowledge for the first time you overload aspecific node modification type, making this specialization useful tospeed up your Mining progression.

Mining makes gold by farming ores in the Dragon Isles, with rarerores being looted based on your Perception stat.

As ores are a common ingredient for Engineering, Jewelcrafting,and Blacksmithing, try to sell yours in raid days, when crafters are morelikely to be looking to create and sell their wares.
